Candidate District 5 – School Board
(Official Candidate Statement)
November 5, 2013
I want to say a special "Thank you" to my wife (Bethany), children, and family for all of the scarifies they made during the race.
I congratulate Eric Davis on his win today.
I want to say "Thank You" to each of my supporters!! I ran so your voice could be heard.
It has been a pleasure to have the opportunity to run for School Board in District 5. It is my hope that having a challenger will now force the current board members to weigh choices they make and remember to not only engage your supporter’s opinions but listen to those who have different opinions and suggestions. You serve your district first and then the rest of CMS.
I will continue to be an advocate for better discipline in our schools, student assignment plans that are fair, bell schedules that are for the good of the students, better communication between CMS and the public, and for better achievement by our students.
As citizens, we must become active in our home school PTA whether we have a child at the school or not. The schools not only impact the students but all homes in the school boundary. We must start a grassroots effort and become organized now if we want change in our schools. I encourage everyone who supported me to become involved with local political organizations this year so we may have a voice for change during the next election. Parent’s voices not only should be heard but must be heard. I hope that during the next school board race we will have 4 or more challengers for each district all with children currently attending a CMS school.
Finally, I fully support the difficult job our teachers do every day and we all must support the teachers and sacrifices they make for the betterment of our children. Let’s get out of the teachers way and let them teach.
Once again, thank you for your support and encouragement during the campaign.
